New Hospital Campus LUKS
The open-space design uses flowing, organic forms as a deliberate counterpoint to the functional architecture, supporting orientation and recovery for staff, patients, and visitors. Tree rows along the perimeter provide acoustic buffering, while green retreat niches create sheltered spaces for rest. The entrance forecourt is conceived as a flexible meeting zone suitable for temporary uses and events.
A biodiversity-oriented planting strategy with climate-resilient native species supports ecological connectivity and microclimate regulation. Permeable surfaces, retention areas, and a clear separation of pedestrian and vehicular circulation contribute to flood protection and barrier-free access. Green roofs with extensive planting, gardens, and usable outdoor areas extend the open-space system and support the thermal performance of the buildings.
